LWC white or near wood free
These grades of paper are in between LWC and the wood free papers. Unfortunately, there is no common definition for them.. LWC paper manufactured by using mechanical pulp contains refined ground wood, which holds lignin. This lignin, in time, yellows the paper.. Wood free paper does not contain lignin, only cellulose fibres. Twice the amount of wood is needed to abstract the cellulose out of the wood fibre. In this chemical process, the wood fibre, including its lignin, will be eliminated. That is why wood free paper will hold on to its whiteness. |
