1896
Derk Jan Thijsen opens the ‘DJ Thijsen book store, book bindery and printing company’. It has been a family business ever since. Due to the growing number of printing orders, the company purchased a cylinder press, which required inserting and removing the sheets of paper by hand. Later on, the company bought croppers, a Heidelberg two-colour automatic cylinder press, and finally, in 1968, four-colour rotary offset presses.
1989
The switch to heatset rotary presses is made.
1996
Thijsen celebrates its 100th anniversary and receives the title of ‘purveyor of the Royal Household’. |

1998
In April, the Heidelberg Harris M3000 32-page short-grain press is installed. Many years of experience within Thijsen have led to a press especially configured according to our requirements.
